State Police Raid on Eagle Bar Nets Bets and Arrests
State Police raided the Eagle Bar at 171 Bradford Street yesterday evening. Aipipco Benevides 26 of 503 Wood Street and Sylvester 24 of 33 Elizabeth Street were arrested on betting charges linked to a 50 cent wager on Brown Fort at Suffolk Downs with a $2.35 payout. Proprieter Joseph Benevides and Sylvester were questioned and released. Bristol Chief Anthony Ferrara was away and unaware of the raid.

Hospitalization Payments In June Reach Record High
The Bristol Welfare Department reports hospitalization expenses for June rose by 1409.58 from last year’s 190. Mrs. Mary Pereira notes long accumulating cases received attention. Public assistance totaled 52, old age 143, aid to dependent children 39, and three for aid to the blind. A June deficit of 1268.56 was charged to the Town Council, due to missing state reimbursements, with about 2000 expected from the state to offset Bristol expenses.

St Michael's Church Plans Annual Bazaar Family Event

Road Resurfacing Halts July Rubbish Collection
