Mount Carmel Amateur League team gains first place tie
Mount Carmel's Independent Amateur League squad won twice over the weekend to pull even atop the standings with Club Giester. They crushed Federal Hill A C 12-7 then blanked Federal Knife 5-0 as Vin Securo and Frank Murgo shut down the threated hitters. Dick Harding delivered a three-hit outing in the second game while Esposito added a second triple to spark a late rally. The Mounties schedule two exhibition games this week at Pawtucket and home against the Quonset Flyers, followed by a Holy Name Society clambake and spaghetti supper July 20.
