Balzano Bristol School Committee Chairman Dies at 49
Theatas Balzane 49 of 93 High St. Bristol, chairman of the Bristol School Committee, died of a heart attack at a National School Boards Association convention. He helped secure land offers for a proposed new high school site from the Haffenreffer family and Brown University, and led the committee on school houses and pupil transportation. Balzano, a lifelong Democrat, served on the town committee and was active in local sports and civic groups. Visitation and funeral arrangements were announced.
