Bristol's Battery C of the 243rd AAA AWon Rhode Island National Guard won the 243rd AAA Group indoor volleyball championship at Camp Edwards Mass. They defeated Battery B of the 705th Bn in a three game series 15 1 16 14 16 14. Members included Lt Roudell Turner Sgt Michael B Topazio Sgt Victor J Trask and others. A championship plaque will be presented later.
The funeral for 85 year old Miss Joanne C Burns of 183 High Street was held yesterday from her home with a solemn Mass at 9 in St Marys Church. Burial followed in St Marys Cemetery Warren. Bearers were Vernon A Gray Ralph Gallo Frank Raiola and Fred Cirillo. She was born in Warren January 5 1865 to John and Joanne Burns and survived by a brother John J Burns of this town and a sister Mrs Peter Rorke of Newark New Jersey plus several nieces and nephews.
The funeral of John Ferri, 65, of 19 DeWolf Avenue, who died last Thursday, was held yesterday from his home with a high Mass of requiem at 9 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Rev Alex J. Peloso P.S.C. led the service and committal at St. Mary's Cemetery. Bearers were nephews Sigismondo Fasano, William Fasano, and Vincent Fasano of the town, with Daniel Fasano of Providence and Ralph Simonelli and Neil Simonelli of Barrington also serving.
The funeral for Mrs Christina Cypriano Silvia Ormond 70 died Saturday at her home 16 Bay View avenue was held at 8 15 this morning and a 9 o'clock Mass at St Elizabeths Church. Survivors include four sons Manuel Joseph Frank and John Silvia Ormond two daughters Rose Paiva and Tennie Rego two sisters Marion Montario Angelina Antonio two brothers John and Antonio Cypriano 16 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Burial followed in St Marys Cemetery.
The funeral for Arthur E Burke senior state fish and game warden, of 89 Market Street Warren, who died Monday at 54, was held Thursday from his home with a solemn requiem Mass at St Mary's Church Warren. Father King read the committal prayers at St Mary's Cemetery Warren. Bearers included Howard R Lewis, Walter S Kenyon, and Warren police and patrol officers.
