Morino Named Architect for Elizabeth Church Complex Plan

Samuel M. Morino of Providence has been chosen architect for a parochial church and hall to be built by St Elizabeth's Church and described by Pastor Rev Jose R Rocha. The project would occupy church property between Wood Street and Monroe Avenue and hold activities from 1 to 8. A parish building fund drive since last October has raised over 50 000 in cash and pledges. Morino also designed Trinity Episcopal Church on Open Street and serves as adviser to the town's World War II Memorial Committee for a proposed municipal building.

Widening Bradford and State Streets Eyed by Town Council

The council moved to have Highway Surveyor Pannone estimate the cost of widening Bradford Street from High to Wood and a section of State Street. City officials, merchants, and U S Rubber Company employees weighed parking limits and possible condemnation of St Mary’s land as part of the proposal. The meeting discussed extending Bradford’s south curb eight to ten feet and delaying Ferrara’s traffic plan pending further hearings.

Fire Chief seeks Scott Air Pack to aid rescue work

Fire Chief Robert J. Anderson announced plans to request a Scott Air Pack at the next town budget meeting. Rescue squad members and fire officials praised the device as a vital aid in rescue operations, noting it would be used for rescue work and not direct firefighting. The pack delivers canned air from tanks worn by the wearer, enabling air supply under water and in difficult conditions.

Russo Youth Reported Much Improved

Carl Russo eight year old son of Mr and Mrs Anthony Russo of Chestnut street was reported much improved by Rhode Island Hospital authorities yesterday afternoon. He was struck by a car while crossing Hope street at Chestnut corner a week ago Thursday morning while waiting for the school bus and sustained a broken leg and head injuries.

New Trinity Church Nears Completion on Hope Street
