Mrs Susan M Sheple Resigns Commandant Post
Mrs Susan M Sheple, commandant of the Soldiers Home, has tendered her resignation to the State Board of Soldiers Relief, effective February 1. Ill health and desire to step back from office burdens prompted the move. she became commandant May 11, 1922, succeeding her father Murdock C McKenzie who served from July 31, 1918 until his death. Col Samuel A Hall and Edward P Gladding of Providence are running for the post, both veterans of the Spanish American and World Wars.

Henry M. Darling Dies Suddenly at His Home
Henry M. Darling a 32 year Hope Street newspaper and periodical store proprietor died at his 656 Hope Street home after a year of ill health. Born August 18 1858 he married Ida Le Meiggs in 1897 and is survived by his wife a daughter Marion and two sisters Eleanor Curley and Mary Darling. He was active in church and fraternal groups and the flag at the station flies at half staff in his memory. Funeral services are Sunday at 2 PM from his residence with Rev. William q Darby officiating. Burial in North Cemetery.
