He is Harvard Class of 1931 and earned his MD from Harvard Medical School in 1935, interned at Hartford Hospital and Butler Hospital, did medical research in Guatemala, and edited the Harvard Advocate while in college.

The Bristol Parent-Teachers Association staged the amateur comedy Movie Queen at Guiteras Memorial junior high school auditorium drawing a near capacity crowd.
