State Armory Center Hosts One Week Clothing Drive
The State Armory at the foot of Church street will serve as the collection center for a seven day clothing drive. Rev. Arthur W. Burdon, Bristol chairman, calls on Bristolians to aid needy war victims, with clergy committees and Girl Scouts assisting. The Navy Dept. officially lists Manuel Paiva Jr. as killed in action after earlier reports of his missing in the South Pacific. An aviation radioman 3rd class, he would have turned 19 on August 11, 1943, enlisted May 20, 1942, and earned his diploma in absentia after Bristol Senior High graduation. He played basketball and football, worked at Bristol Manufacturing, was a sea scout, and was a State champion Scotch bass drummer in the Boy Scout Bugle and Drum Corps.

Teen-Age Book Show Draws Over Ten Thousand Attendees

Master Map Plan Aims to Guide Bristol Road Development
The Planning Board and Town Council discussed hiring an engineer to prepare a Master Map of Bristol showing future streets in undeveloped sections. The map would support the proposed platting ordinance and aid landowners in plats while promoting orderly highway development as the town grows.
