Bristol Town Council President J Floyd Huestis reports a Providence meeting with UNO hopefuls. Governor Pastore confirms a Bristol invitation to host the Preparatory Commission to inspect Poppasquash Neck as a potential UNO world capital site. Magician Bill Williston Set for Y.M.C.A. Show

Famous illusionist Bill Williston will perform at the Y.M.C.A. Monday evening February 4. R. S. Bosworth says the Bristol appearance fits his busy schedule and he enjoys returning home. Tickets prices are not set yet but special rates for children under 16 are planned. The show will be held in the Y gym to accommodate more spectators.

Banquet to Salute Colt Championship Football Team

A surprise tea was hosted yesterday at Mrs John D Moore’s Bradford street home for Mrs Robert L Cragan. A former Bristol Girl Scouts deputy commissioner and camp chairman she is moving from town next week. Mrs Earl G Stur devant poured, Mrs Moore served, and guests sent a gift from the Council along with State Director Mrs Bentley Mackintosh in attendance.

U S Rubber to Close Lowell Plant January 31 1946

The Lowell plant of the U S Rubber Company will shut down on January 31 1946 factory manager Wesley A Armstrong announced The plant opened during the war and trained executives at Bristol The notice cites four months of trial to operate commercially and states government property will not be taken over Industrial Relations will help staff seek new jobs.

The Rev Arthur W Burdon was named chairman of a Bristol clothing drive for this month to aid overseas relief. The drive seeks 100000000 garments with letters to unknown recipients, urging residents to donate coats suits trousers skirts dresses shirts sweaters knitwear underwear shoes and rubbers in good condition. Vikings Reorganization Meeting Attracts Local Youth

About 25 young men attended the first meeting of the Viking Club reorganization at the Y. officers and committees will be elected next Monday. The Vikings lost 51 to 49 to New Bedford IMWA in their opener at Andrews gym. A fecked St Brendan's game gave Mount Carmel a forfeit. a pickup squad lost to Mr Carmel. Roughly 150 spectators saw the event and more games with outside teams are planned. The club seeks approval to use Andrews gym from the School Committee.
