Bristol woman leaves vast Guiteras estate to church and schools

The will of Miss Gertrude E. Guiteras filed in Probate Court details a $550000 estate to be distributed among relatives, churches, and charities. Enabling Act Sought To Sell Town Land In Bristol

The Town Council approved a resolution asking the General Assembly to enact a measure allowing Bristol to sell land between Thames Street and the waterfront to Collins and Aikman Corporation. Judge Edward L. Leahy presented the resolution detailing sale conditions. The council also amended the zoning law to reclassify a parcel on Tupelo Road from Residence C to Business District and prepared forms for the three zoning board members.

Snow Collision on Hope Street Involving Horse-Drawn Spreader

Police report a morning crash on Hope Street at 10:45 involving Anthony E. Williams 21 of 38 Baynes Avenue and James Almeida of 1230 Hope Street. Almeida drove a horse drawn manure spreader. Williams’ car skidded on snow and struck the spreader causing minor damages to both.

Rotary Club To Present Guidon To Co G State Guard

Rotary members agreed to purchase and present a guidon for Company G of the Rhode Island State Guard after Town Council President J Floyd Huestis read the unit’s written request. A cash collection was started at once and a formal presentation will follow. Ralph J Foster spoke on art in everyday business affairs. Club directors meet Tuesday at the YMCA.
