Hope Hardware Wins Honors In YMCA Tourney

Hope Hardware won the HolidayBasketball Tourney title with semi final wins by Ferris Dry Goods over the County Cleansers 38 132 and Hope Hardware beating A. W. DuPont Plumbing 64 36. In the consolation game County Cleansers beat Ferris Dry 6 1. Joe Seles ting team members received medals. Capt Manny Pasqual led with 21 points. Jim Serpa went scoreless, Steve Masena had 7, Eugene Massa 2, Jim Cruz 3. Richard Jackson won the foul shooting contest in the Gray division.

Red Cross Volunteer Drivers Set December Record

Red Cross Motor Service Corps women drivers logged 707 miles answering 21 calls in December. Mrs. George L. Green, director, notes trips to Rhode Hospital Veterans Administration on Hope Street and Providence Lying In Hospital, plus two Newport runs with gifts for service members. A fruit basket was sent to Newport Naval Station from the Bristol Branch. The production group, led by Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Walker, begins tomorrow to sew layettes diapers bedside bags and aprons, meeting Wednesdays 10 am to 3 pm at Town Hall Annex.

Warren Teachers Visit Bristol Industries

Warren school teachers will visit the Bristol Manufacturing Corp and Kaiser Aluminum plants tomorrow as part of Business-Industrial Day. The 10 AM to noon tours precede a noon luncheon at the Hotel Columbus in Warren where 66 teachers officials and foreign visitors will meet.

George R. Fish, unofficial weather observer, reported Bristol thermometer dipped to 4 above zero overnight and was 7 above when he reported for work. He added that it has cooled since Sunday night. No fires have occurred.

Kearney Post Admits New Members and Plans Events

Kearney Post No. 6 of the American Legion welcomed World War I veterans Charles M. Green and William Carr to its ranks at a Friday meeting, raising 1958 membership to 180. The post announced a Blood Bank drive with a new Bloodmobile, a TV set purchase for the post home, an oratorical finals on March 21, and a spaghetti supper on February 1 for March of Dimes. Riverside Post to host District 2 meeting Saturday at 8 p.m.
