Galvanized rods for bracing URI trees discussed
Weekend Gardener advises using galvanized rods to brace weak crotches at the University of Rhode Island. Install just above the union, bore precise holes, coat bolts with asphaltum for a water tight seal, and use washers to aid healing. If extra support is needed higher up, add galvanized cable to large screw eyes kept snug.
