Four Injured in Head-On Collision on Wampanoag Trail
A Saturday 2:30 p.m. head-on crash on the Wampanoag Trail in East Providence left four injured after icy roads. Harold C. Newman suffered lip lacerations, rib fracture, and knee injuries. Norman Lemieux and Frederick Meiggs sustained knee and arm injuries. Narcisse Boudreau had lip lacerations. Passersby drove the injured to Dr. A Giura's Warren office for treatment.

Dr John A Mellone resumes duties as physician and surgeon at the Rhode Island Soldiers Home after a military leave since January 1941. During his service, Dr Antonio F DAngelo acted as medical doctor for the Home. Mellone, a resident of West Barrington, was also a former Bristol medical examiner.

Bristol County Chapter of the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis named chairmen for three towns to lead the upcoming March of Dimes drive. Appointees are Mrs. John H. Tuplin Bristol John Conley Warren and Arthur J. Leckie Barrington. They will form committees and work with chapter president Rev. John T. Borek Warren. An Infantile Paralysis Ball may be sponsored by Rotary Clubs of Warren and Bristol in late January. The next meeting is set for Friday Jan 11 at 8 p.m. in the Holmes House.

Records from the Town Clerk show 195 children born to Bristol parents in 1945 with 43 in town 73 in Rhode Island Hospitals and 79 in Fall River Hospitals. There were 126 marriages 58 local 56 mixed Bristol-out of town and 12 both from out of town. Eight Bristol couples wed out of town and 30 marriages had one Bristol party. During the year 69 Bristol deaths occurred and 32 Bristol residents died out of town.

Condition Of Woman Shot In Face In New Year Accident
Miss Mary Francis 33 of 137 Meta com avenue was shot in the right nose by a .22 rifle found by John Carriera 16 in the Francis cellar. She was taken to Truesdale Hospital where doctors operated to remove the bullet and she is improving and expected to stay several more days.

First 1946 Baby Born To Mr And Mrs Parisi
Rita Frances Parisi, daughter of Mr and Mrs Michael Parisi of 400 High Street, was the first baby born in 1946 in Truesdale Hospital at 1:46 am on New Year's Day. The infant is the first in Fall River for the year and the Parisi couple's second child, joining an older sister.

Sailor Robbed on New Year’s Eve in Newport Yard
R. L. Rawley, 20, a sailor stationed in Newport, was beaten and robbed in a State street yard on New Year’s Eve. His billfold with ten dollars and papers was taken. the money later found on Hope street, papers intact. Four sailors allegedly dragged him into the yard after leaving a lunchroom and assaulted him.
