Annual Elections Held by Four Bristol Fire Units

Four Bristol fire fighting units held annual meetings with mixed outcomes. Dreadnought Hook Ladder and Hose elected new foreman Oliver Lemaire. Hydraulion Engine, led by Henry S Campbell, chose him as foreman to succeed Sheriff James F Meiggs. Defiance Engine and Hose named Albert E Alder captain while Raymond S Brightman declined another term. Ever Ready Engine and Hose re-elected Harvey Gladue as captain. other officers were chosen across the units and a banquet date was set for January.

Ever Ready Whist Series Concludes With Prizes

Thirteen tables played at the Ever Ready Engine and Hose Company station on Thames Street for the final whist of the series held Wednesday evenings. Prize winners were Mrs James Rielly Donald Gladue Mrs William Cheetham Edward Blanken ship John Freitas and Mrs Fred Guevremont. A new series will begin next Wednesday evening.

Bristol Town Seeks Joint Water Purchase With Warren and Barrington

Bristol Town Council president Prescott B Paull urges a three town meeting within two weeks to discuss buying the Bristol County Water Works and running the system jointly. He cites possible tax relief and Federal aid for utilities but notes sale is not guaranteed. Bristol owns 1500 shares, valued at 1000 par, bequeathed by Col Samuel P Colt. Warren and Barrington once held shares but sold them years ago.

Police cooperate with school traffic cops in Bristol

Acting Police Chief Anthony J Ferrara announced a crackdown on drivers who ignore schoolboy traffic stop signs and intersections. Patrolman Euclid J De Mars will monitor the town during school hours and report violators to the chief for full legal penalties.

Wheel Chair Fund Reaches Target In Bristol Community Drive

The Bristol Phoenix reports the Wheel Chair Fund has reached its goal with a total of 45 dollars raised for a crippled mother needing a wheelchair. Contributions came from Rev M F Barros 200 S Vincent de Paul Society of St Elizabeths Church 333 and the group thanks all donors for their generosity.

Pierce reports governor figures on era workers accurate

James T. Pierce, secretary of the Democratic Town Committee, told Bristol's Town Council that the list of ERA program workers from Governor Green is accurate with one exception his own name. The Reba Rebekah Lodge IOOF held its 60th anniversary banquet last night in the vestry of State Street Methodist Episcopal Church.
