Hunger as motive shown in rat experiments at GWU study
A George Washington University study by Dr A Moda suggests hunger drives pursuit more powerfully than maternal or companionship instincts. In a three chamber cage with a wired middle barrier, eight of ten rats crossed the shock to reach food within 72 hours, while separated mothers and their young resisted, indicating hunger as a strong motivator with implications for other animals.
