Bristol County Teachers Elect Officers at Barrington Meeting

The Bristol County Teachers Association held its annual meeting Friday afternoon in the Barrington Town Hall with 90 members present. Joseph A Butler of Warren was elected president. officers include Minard, Loughran, Read, Bailey, Staples and Peckham with reports read and a collation served.

Lemaire Defeats Connery 100 96 For Bristol Council Pool Cup

Edmund J. Lemaire won the Bristol Council No. 379 K of C pool tournament silver cup in a 100 to 96 victory over Robert J. Connery. Connery gave a 10 ball handicap. the match went to the 13th frame before Lemaire clinched the win. Referee D. J. McCarty stated both players were closely matched. The cup will be presented at the next Bristol Council meeting.

Narrow Escape From Death For John Cletus Hamill

John Cletus Hamill about 22, employed by Col. S. P. Colt, had a near fatal collapse Saturday evening while bathing at Linden Place garage. He fainted on a stool, collapsed again, and lay unconscious until found around 8 pm. Mrs. Floyd Huestis alerted, doctor treated with digitalis and atropine, Hamill revived and improved by next morning.

St Michael's Choir Social Attracts Guests And Guild Talk

About 75 members of St Michael's Church choir and guests attended a social in the chapel. Howard Hagan of All Saints Providence addressed the gathering, praising the choir and outlining the Choir Guild of the Diocese of Rhode Island. The choir sang two anthems and a supper followed.

Third Annual Bristol Improvement Banquet Planned at Belvedere

The Bristol Improvement Association schedules its third annual banquet for Thursday at 7 30 PM in the Hotel Belvedere. Rev Samuel Lindsay of Bellevue Penn will be the principal speaker. Members should confirm attendance with treasurer Howard R Newman. The annual meeting follows next Monday with officer elections. Judge Edward L Leahy is the favored presidential nominee as Benjamin F Lindemuth declines re election.

Couple faces non support charge in Fifth District Court

In a Fifth District Court session yesterday Luisa de Sousa Costa charged her husband Francisco Costa with non support covering January to February. Judge F. H. Hammill found the defendant guilty and deferred sentence three months to allow him to meet obligations.

A sizable audience heard Dr Swarts present an illustrated talk on keeping milk pure and farming scientifically to ensure healthy babies. The First Congregational Church quartet performed pleasing selections and Dr A M Merriman introduced the speaker. Mrs Dexter Thurber announced Bristol Baby Week with Swarts expressing approval of the plan.

GleE Club Formed At Congregational Memorial Chapel

A mixed gender glee club formed at the Congregational Memorial Chapel after a Sunday meeting. About 35 signified joining, with meetings on Sunday afternoons. David E. Carter, church organist, to direct. Charles F. Dimond Jr. elected Secretary and Treasurer.

Boys' Club meeting draws135 youths to talk by H C Barden

One hundred thirty five boys attended the Friday Afternoon Club meeting last Friday with H C Barden of Attleboro giving the address. Silas Perry of Pawtucket is slated to speak next Friday afternoon and the usual patriotic and educational moving pictures will be shown.
