Cavaca Found Guilty On Shellfishing Law Violations

Herbert J Cavaca aged 38 of Tiverton was found guilty in Fifth District Court on two counts of shellfishing law violations after a two hour trial featuring State Fish and Game officials. He received a 30 day jail sentence plus fines of 100 dollars and 20 dollars plus costs. both sentences were appealed with bail of 1200 dollars posted by his wife.

Funeral Held for Frank DeFelice A Warren Auto Victim

Former Colt Memorial High School classmates and many mourners attended the funeral for Frank DeFelice 30 of 2 Chilton Street. He died from injuries sustained in a Warren automobile accident the previous week. Rev Joseph Sorzano officiated a 9 am mass at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church and led the committal at St Marys Cemetery. Bearers were Augustine DeFeline Joseph Coco Anthony Caruso William Ferrara Frederick Squatrito and Matthew Squatrito.

Welfare Worker to Address P T A at Bristol Meeting

Miss Fleanor Poss of Providence, a welfare league case worker, will speak on “On the Parent and the Adolescent Child” at the Bristol Parent-Teacher Association meeting. The event includes a film screening from the recent presentation of “The Movie Queen TM” and no children will be admitted.

Boy Struck By Automobile on State Street

Antonne Santos Jr aged five from Past State street was struck and knocked to the curb by an eastbound Belle car driven by Edward H. Relle Jr. He fled from parked cars into the street and received abrasions to the right elbow. He was taken to Dr William L. Serbst for treatment.

Proposed Site Of New Trinity Church Still Secret

The proposed site for a new Trinity Church remains secret for at least two more weeks. Parishioners expected a favorable report at the corporation meeting but action did not materialize. Potential sites include land owned by Town Engineer William W. Perry south of the Excelsior Tennis Court, the former State Street M E Church site, and the Babbitt property at Hope and Byfield streets.

The Knights of Columbus Building Inc of Bristol plans an injunction to prevent sale of State Street property due to tax delinquency. The group contends exemption under Rhode Island General Laws, Section Two, Chapter 58, while town officials and local assessors declined comment.

First of Community Lenten Series Held Sunday

The Rev Fleming James of Berkeley Divinity School preached on sacrifice during the first of a community Lenten series at St Michael's Episcopal Church with cooperation from local Protestant churches. Next Sunday Rev Carl Knudsen of the Church of the Pilgrimage will preach, preceded by a harp program by Mrs Henriette Staton Platt. Thieves Steal Car From Bristol Garage

Bristol police hunt suspects after a break in at 972 Hope Street. A car owned by Calbraith B Perry and assorted merchandise including electrical drills and about nine gallons of oil were stolen. The theft was discovered about 6 am by owner Antonio DePont. A description was broadcast statewide by Police Chief Anthony J Ferrara.

Poets Night Marked By Scout Troop Tribute to Longfellow
