Construction of State Pier Nears as Materials Arrive
The first load of piling for the state pier at Church Street arrived yesterday, with work to start within two weeks. Harold J Creedan of Seaboard Construction, bidder on the project, said creosote piling will form the main east west pier extending about 250 feet into the harbor. Finger piers extending north will be built with oak piling.

Story of Newport Synagogue Told by Rabbi
Rabbi Theodore Lewis of Newport spoke at the Bristol Historical Society meeting at Bristol County Court House about Touro Synagogue, dedicated in 1763 and since 1946 a National Historic Site. He traced its construction and ornamentation, noting Isaac Touro as the first Rabbi and Peter Harrison as supervising designer of the colonial structure.

Council Passes Laundry Ordinance At Special Session

The highway department announced that on rubbish pick up days all barrels and receptacles must be at the curb by 7 30 a.m. If not, the rubbish will be left behind.
