In a special session all members attended except President Rockwell who is abroad. Presiding was Benjamin M. MacDougall. recommendations totaling 94,000 were prepared for the annual town meeting to be considered at Monday evening's financial town meeting.
Bristol Chapter D A R celebrated Washington birthday at Mrs Fielding L Williams home Hope Street with a 4 to 6 reception honor of Mrs Charles Warren Lippitt Rhode Island State Regent. The event featured colonial decor, a large birthday cake inscribed Washington 1732, music by Frank Rain and a violinist, and remarks by Mrs Lippitt.
The funeral for Mrs. Margaret A. Johnson wife of Town Sergeant Thomas E. Johnson was held Wednesday morning from her 262 High Street home with a 9 o'clock requiem at St Marys Church. Rev. John F Downing and Rev. Austin O Toole officiated. Large attendance, many floral tributes, choir directed by Edward F Christie, solos by Grace Conley and Catherine Connery. Bearers included J T Doyle Daniel B Doyle Edward Doyle Dennis B Sullivan J O'Brien Maldena Bernard F Doyle New York. Interment in St Marys Cemetery.
A Providence wedding on Plenty Street united Miss Oora Thurston Sweet, daughter of Wilbur Howland Sweet, with Oliver Keith Phinney, son of R Phinney. Attendees from town included many keepie. After a two week trip to New York, the couple will host friends at 43 Plenty Street, Providence.
The 62¢ annual Washington Ball at Artillery Hall drew a large crowd with flags and a Washington portrait. Crown orchestra provided music from 8 to 9, and 60 couples led the grand march by Col. Merton A. Cheesman and Mrs. A. W. Barrett. Military guests included Capt. Lines, Capt. Maltoon, Capt. Green, plus the governor’s staff and Burnside Camp members. Intermission served by the Ladies Auxiliary. floor director Sgt Bertram Bullock and aides listed. Arrangements chaired by Maj. John H. Bailey Jr with QMs and officers assisting.

The Knights of Pythias Grand Officers visited Burnside Lodge No 34 Tuesday evening. Chancellor Commander Harry W Monro and lodge officers gave a cordial welcome. John J Hackett, newly elected Grand Chancellor, received congratulations during an informal reception. Edgehill Temple No 8 plus College officers attended. An oyster stew was served.
