Opposition to Church Property Sale for Andrews Memorial School
Members of Trinity Church Corporation voiced opposition at a meeting last night to selling church property to the School Committee for the new Andrews Memorial School. A rising vote showed only four in favor of sale, with adjournment until next Monday. The School Committee seeks a 45 percent WPA grant for a three story memorial building to honor Robert Shaw Andrews and provide vocational training in the Bristol community.

W ord reached from Goshen New Hampshire of the sudden death of Louis Gladue a former Bristol resident at 52 years old He died February 16 while cutting ice on a Goshen pond He was born June 14 1884 in Plattsburg New York and later moved to Goshen where he farmed He served on the Goshen board of selectmen two years ago He is survived by his wife Marguerite Trudeau three children Louis J Gladue Oliver Thomas Gladue and Mrs William Hamilton seven grandchildren two brothers three sisters and other relatives Funeral services were held in Goshen with burial in St Patrick s Cemetery Bearers included Louis Dennis Medis Gladue Ernest Gladue and Amos Trudeau Sr.

The 89th annual Washington Ball was held last night at the Bristol Casino hosted by the Bristol Train of Artillery one of the oldest chartered commands. Attendees wore gowns uniforms and tuxedos while Steve Preston's Casino Orchestra played. Brig Gen L H Callan and Mrs Merriman led the grand march with Col Merriman Mrs Callan and Mr Weeden and Mrs Lindemuth as partners. The event featured elaborate lighting and decor by Messrs Maloney and Duclos and a large volunteer organizing committee including Mayor Hambrick and several officers. Captain Edward Bullock served as floor director and 16 Colonial Company C ushers assisted throughout the evening.

Barrington Man Fined for Speeding in Bristol
Antonio Andriozzi age 39 of 352 Maple Avenue Barrington pleaded nolo contendere to speeding and was fined $15 plus costs by Judge William T. O'Donnell in the Fifth District Court session. Police said he was taken into custody February 7 after an accident near Colt's Drive.
