Sea Scouting Expands For Boy Scouts Of America
The sea scout division broadens beyond land hikes with overnight cruises. Eligible scouts must be 15 or older and weigh at least 112 pounds. Three national sea scout camps exist Marion Massachusetts Chicago Illinois and Portland. Marion hosts 100 boys for two to four weeks of drills swimming lifesaving and salt water training under Gen George W Goethals and Admiral William S Sims oversight.

A Milwaukee scout reports a field rescue of a bulldog struck by a car. He used the Schaeffer resuscitation method, cleared the tongue with a pencil, and after 15 minutes of artificial respiration the dog revived. After further care the dog recovered.

About 190 scouts from Yakima Washington pledged as deputy forest rangers at a forest preservation rally. George Griffith federal forest chief administered the oath and assigned the youths to local rangers to protect the district woods. They promised careful campfire use to report dangerous blazes and to extinguish smoldering fires caused by careless persons.
