Heart Disease Costs to Business and Industry Rise
The Bristol Heart Fund reports heart and vascular diseases will cost American business about 52 million man days of production this year and Americans 195 billion dollars in wages and medical expenses. Heart attack remains the leading cause of death, striking a victim every 47 seconds, with men aged 45 to 64 at highest risk. The fund urges firms to support awareness campaigns during February to reduce tolls and share life saving information. The American Heart Association leads a nationwide effort to cut risk and educate on early warning signs.
