The school committee supports a 129000 appropriation for the current fiscal year to operate focal schools. The request includes restoring 5 percent of the 15 percent salary cut for teachers and staff, effective August, with the plan framed around prior economies.
Judge Benjay F Linde muth quickly disposed of four docketed cases in the Fifth District Court. Continuances of one week were granted in Laura Martelly v A H Carr and Arthur H Carr v Laura Martelly as Ideal Financing Co v Horace Collins and John J Riley. The trespass and ejectment case Eva Makowsky v Mrs Collins was unanswered and ordered defaulted.
South Kingstown High School faces Colt Memorial in a three game playoff for the Class B state berth with the first game set for Thursday in the Peacedale Opera House. The winner advances to meet the Class A finalist for the New England schoolboy championship in Boston.
Seven Second District American Legion Auxiliary units jointly sponsored a Bristol Americanism program at Colt Memorial high school. Speeches by Mrs. Agnes C. Hulbert and Mrs. Clara Lambert and Mrs. Althea Jencks highlighted the event with musical selections by Colt Memorial orchestra and various readings dances and tableaux from local units. The program featured recitations by John Simoes and Antonio Perroni and closed with the assembly singing America and the Star Spangled Banner.
Announcement by Lon Vail manager of the Lyric Theatre Warren outlines Bristol patrons can buy a 30c ticket at three stations for free bus transport to Warren and theatre admission. Two shows nightly at 6 and 8 15 p m with buses running from Thursday and a detailed schedule for Bristol Hope and State streets and Warren Lyric Theatre including departures and durations.
Bristol Lions Club, showing ongoing support for scholastic athletics, bought new basketball shoes for Colt Memorial high school. Members formed a cheering squad and will attend all playoff games as Colt aims to win the 1934 Class B championship on a slippery floor.

The 86th annual Washington Ball of the Bristol Train of Artillery will be held Wednesday at the Bristol Casino under Lt Col Edwin S Godfrey supervision. Gov Theodore Francis Green and staff are invited along with Rhode Island officials and National Guard officers. ticket sales limit to 75 couples with over 200 expected. Booths remain available per Lieut James J Velleca.
A ball will begin with a concert from 8 to 9 by the BTA Band under Mrs. M Theresa Donovan. A grand march may be headed by Gov. Green, followed by dancing until 2 a.m. intermission features a chicken salad supper. Lieut. James J. Velleca heads the arrangements with Capt. Edward Bullock and others in charge of sub committees for reception booths ushers checking music publicity and more.

Catholic churches hold regular Lenten programs with a St Columban priest at St Mary s. Rev D R Bailey will preach at Trinity Church Fall River on Friday night.

Lon Vail proposes to build a $40,000 theatre seating 1000 at the burned Pastime site if the Town of Bristol leases him the location. He will finance the project and aims for a facility rivaling the best in towns of Bristol’s size with no gallery.

The Bristol Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution hosts a Washington birthday observance Thursday afternoon in the Chapter House on Franklin Street. Principal speaker Dr. R Morton Smith of West Warwick will discuss New England Migration, with vocal selections by Roswell S. Bosworth. Program committee chair Mrs. Earle P. Mathewson leads the event.
Gen. L. H. Callan voiced strong opposition in the State Senate to the Metropolitan Sewer Project arguing investigations are incomplete and towns outside the plan could face per capita costs. He cited Bristol’s existing 1 million dollar sewer system and warned Bristol taxpayers may bear additional assessments beyond current expenditures.
Orin E. Skinner of Connick Art Studios Boston will present an illustrated lecture on Stories and Legends in Stained Glass at joint Union Services of State Street M E and First Congregational Churches Sunday night. He trained at Rochester Art School and restored Rheims Cathedral windows with Mme Skinner and Mon sieur Simon, highlighting 13th century glass and Connick’s modern restorations.
