Veterans Rally Endorses Permanent Memorial Plan
About 250 veterans unanimously urged the Town Council to replace the Welcome Home Celebration with a permanent memorial funded by 10,000 dollars already allotted and 5,000 more anticipated at the March town meeting. The meeting in Reynolds School auditorium discussed living memorials such as a beach recreation hall with a pool, a hospital, a new town hall, and a G I Park at the Leahy Farm.

S Sgt Alan Hibbert Declared Dead In War Records
S Sgt Alan Hibbert RAF son of Mr and Mrs George Hibbert of 240 Hope Street has been officially declared dead by the War Department after being missing in action since January 20 1944. He was 27 and a crew member on a bombardment mission from Tarawa to Marshall Islands. radio contact was lost over Wotje Atoll. He was born in Providence later moved to Bristol and educated at Colt Memorial High School class of 1934. He worked for Collins and Aikman before enlisting in 1942 and earned the Air Medal at Hickam Field Hawaii for actions over Nauru and Tarawa. Survived by his parents a brother Lt Norman L Hibbert USNR and a sister Margaret.

Scouts Collect Fourteen Tons Of Paper In Bristol Drive
More than fourteen tons of waste paper were collected by 65+ Bristol Boy Scouts in a curbside drive last Sunday. Trucks from the town departments and Bristol Manufacturing aided transport to a junk yard and NY NH H Railroad for shipment to a paper mill. Proceeds fund troop equipment for the Mt Hope pow wow.
