The Rhode Island Women’s Relief Corps presented an upright piano for the south recreation room at the Soldiers’ Home hospital. Mrs Annie Doherty of Providence chairs the committee, and officials welcomed the gift. A postponed visit by Pawtucket and Saylesville Legion posts brought books and supplies to the veterans, and next Sunday a large gathering from Richard Dennis Post and local auxiliaries will offer entertainment and gifts.

Thieves Break Into Mayflower Store on Hope Street
Thieves forced entry through a rear basement door and the main floor at the Mayflower and First National Store on Hope Street. Candy bars valued at about 12 dollars were taken, with a bag of sawdust used to aid the theft. An electric light and two lights in the rear room were left on. the break was reported to police.

Robbery at Zeferino Vieira's Store on Hope Street
Robbers pried open a nailed cellar door of Zeferino Vieira's grocery at 485 Hope Street, stealing about $20 in cash, cigarettes, cakes, meats, and various groceries. Entry was gained by west cellar door. thieves ate on site and left scattered food and bottles. The break occurred overnight, discovered by Vieira at 7 am.
