Fire Department weighs box alarm option and new pumper
The 1945 annual Fire Department report to Bristol Town Council outlines a survey for a 10 box alarm system costing up to 12000 dollars and 4 more boxes bringing total to 16000 dollars. A 8 000 dollar system for the compact and outskirts is also considered. The Maxim 500 GPM pumper delivery is expected soon after purchase on September 7 1945. The year saw 18 general alarms and 50 stills with estimated property damage at 5845 dollars and a year end balance just over 200 dollars. The report criticizes motorists obstructing fire apparatus and notes a 25 dollar fine. Plans for Hi Y supper and club activities are included.

Cronin Speaks At Holy Name Society Meeting
The Holy Name Society of St Marys Church held its monthly gathering in the church auditorium. Coach Jack Cronin of La Salle Academy addressed members and shown were films of the La Salle Holy Cross College football game in New Orleans on Dec 23. He explained plays as the game progressed. The Constitution and By Laws were adopted after a report by the Executive Committee. James Flynn was elected to the social committee, replacing John Langello. A sports night and a membership drive were planned, with committees named. A brief address by Rev M L Organ followed and a collation served by Otis Bailey, John Langello and Leon Dobridnia.

The Bristol High School Athletic Association hosts a Friday night triple header in Andrews gym to benefit the Infantile Paralysis Fund. At 7 PM the Colt Jayvees play Coventry Jayvees, at 8 PM the Colt Varsity meets Coventry in league action, and at 9 15 PM the Vikings face Newport Naval Hospital stars led by Bornheimer Mc Niss Taylor Frelge Storey Wehr and others. Vin Santos helped arrange the Newport roster.
