Burnside Building Renovation Plan Reemerges in Town Council

Town Council President Prescott B Paull revived a 1925 plan to enlarge and renovate the Burnside Memorishs Building at an estimated 20 000 cost. Proposals include a south wing addition a larger vault and improved offices for the Town Clerk Treasurer Tax Assessors and Highway Department with access adjustments and public space enhancements.

Roosevelt Loyalist Coggeshall Named Postmaster at Bristol

Indications point to Daniels Wilcox Coggeshall as the new Bristol postmaster designation sent to the Senate for approval. The Bristol native and Brown University graduate, a World War veteran, would fill the office once held by his father during the Wilson era, succeeding William M Connery after his September 1933 relief and William J McShane’s interim tenure.

Paramede Shoe Co Incorporation Filed in Rhode Island

Articles of incorporation for Paramede Shoe Company of Rhode Island filed at the State House January 31 list 500 shares of common stock with no par value. Incorporators are Joseph E Adelson Maurice Robinson and Charles A Robinson of Providence. The plant is located in Bristol.

Bristol observes Boy Scout Silver Jubilee with town events

Bells and chimes mark the 25th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America. William D. Boyce founded the national group 25 years ago in Chicago, now active in more than 50 countries with over a million US Scouts. Local events include assemblies at Guiteras Junior High and Reynolds School, a Silver Jubilee rally, a Scout Week program, and a nationwide broadcast with President Roosevelt.

Bristol Firemen Hold Regular Monthly Meetings

Regular monthly meetings were held by the Hydravions Dreadnaughts and Defiance Fire Companies on Wednesday with committees appointed by Foreman Henry Campbell. The Ever Ready Engine and Hose Company met Tuesday due to weekly whist, approving house and auditing committees and new purchasing actions.

Battery C Praised At Annual Military Inspection

Lieut Col Earl C Webster lauded Battery C 243rd Coast Artillery during regimental and Federal inspection. The event drew spectators and featured infantry and artillery maneuvers led by Capt A A Moren with Lt Jas J Garvin and Sgt Manuel Morris Jr. Sanitation first aid and equipment checks were also praised by Majors E A Rowland and M G Armstrong.

Bristol Eyes Connecting Link Between State Highways

The Bristol Town Council weighs a plan to build a 50 foot connecting link between Hobe Street and Metacom Avenue tied to ERA land use. Kearney Post Opposes Beehler Removal

Kearney Post No. 6 of Rhode Island American Legion shared its stance against removing State Service Officer William Beehler. A letter to Governor Theodore Green will be sent. The meeting approved staff for a St Patrick's Night dance and named delegates to the Providence convention. The unit switched meeting night to the first Thursday. quorum issues delayed the Ladies Auxiliary. The Sons of the Legion held their monthly session with 22 members present.
