Members at the Bristol Improvement Association meeting at the Hotel Belvedere approved a March 2 banquet with Rev. Samuel Lindsay as speaker. The group discussed open-space improvements, sewer connections, and a concrete sidewalk plan urging systematic routes, property-owner cooperation, and multi-year budgeting.

Fifth District Court Hears Vagrancy and Minor Offenses

In the Fifth District Court Judge F H Hammill sentences John Marcyoskelivicz a Polander to six months at the State Workhouse for vagrancy. Jesse Travers and John Correa are fined $3 plus costs for reveling on Bradford street. Arthur Nadeau pleads guilty to drunkenness on Thames street and pays $2 plus costs. Frank Brown arraigned on a Poor Overseer charge and pleads not guilty. case continued. Herman S Barboza vs Joseph Freitas continued one week. Dr O R Siegel vs Joseph Ferdico defaulted. John Gomez vs Ernest Emelles entered and continued.

Oyster growers seek 4400 for coastal propagation studies

Oyster dealers and growers along the eastern coast urged Congress to appropriate 4400 for the Bureau of Fisheries to study propagation and fattening of oysters in coastal waters. Rhode Island activists presented a Narragansett Bay petition to the House, arguing long neglected potential to lower food costs.

Rhode Island Historical Teachers Association Formed at Brown

The Rhode Island Historical Teachers Association was formed at a Saturday meeting in the John Hay Memorial Library at Brown University Providence. A constitution was adopted and officers were elected. Talks focused on How History is Taught in the Schools with Miss Clara A Stanhope of Colt Memorial High School among the speakers.
