Icy Road Blamed for Newport Collision at Hope and Franklin
An accident at 8:45 this morning at the Hope and Franklin streets intersection involved a sedan driven by Gordon Frye 41 of Newport and a Seth Paull Co horse and delivery wagon. Frye said icy road conditions caused his skid and loss of control damaging the sedan with no injuries reported.

Pasquale Abenante longtime Bristol resident died Sunday night at 24 Prospect Street after a two year illness. Born in Scafaty Italy he was 86. He emigrated 60 years ago settling in Colchester then Bristol. Survived by wife Rose and two sons John and Ralph and four daughters. Also 36 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. Defective Chimney Blaze Forcibly Evacuates A Five Member Family
A fire caused by a defective chimney at 37 Lincoln Avenue forced a five member Zinowich family to flee their two and a half story building shortly after 6 30 p m Sunday. One occupant, a crippled 15 year old named Stephen Bystery, was helped from the scene by his sister Adele as firefighters from Hydraulion Engine and Hose Company battled the blaze which was confined to partitions in two rooms. No injuries occurred and the Makowsky estate building sustained several hundred dollars in damage. The first floor housed the occupied tenement while the second floor was vacant.

Mrs Melvina Frances Stephens Fales aged 47 48 in her 48th year died after apoplexy at a friend's home on Sunday afternoon. She was wife of Charles A Fales and died several hours after the attack.
