Rotary Benefit Frolic Cabaret de Paris Opens at Naval Armory

Bristol Rotary Club presents a two night Cabaret de Paris with eight professional vaudeville acts led by the Gardner Sisters in New York this week. Tables for four are reserved in a Parisian setting with dancers waitresses and a host of attendants. Food will be prepared by two noted local women chefs under expert supervision.

Relief fund appeals aid for needy Bristol family cases

Case 12 describes a father, three children, and grandmother seeking help after mother died of TB and father hospitalized. Case 13 details a laid off man with a hospitalized wife and sick or unemployed children, requesting donations to The General Relief Fund Bristol Phoenix or Rev A R Parshley. Supreme Court Deliberates Bristol Sewage Case in Pollution Dispute

The Rhode Island Supreme Court held a reserved decision after hearing State and Bristol town counsel argue over the towns right to discharge sewage into Bristol harbor. The case centers on jurisdiction of the Board of Purification of Waters and whether colonial and modern pollution statutes repeal each other.

Fifth District Court disposes docket with fines and defaults

The Fifth District Court, presided by Judge B Lindemuth, disposed a light docket yesterday morning. Three drunkenness cases were fined two dollars and costs on the civil side. The trespass and ejectment case Daniel Hearn versus Domenico Colasant was ordered defaulted. The book account case Philip Shulman versus Manuel Reposa was unanswered and continued one week.

Jones Wood Street store breaks for third time in six weeks

The Jones store at Wood and Congregational streets was entered late Saturday night or early Sunday. A vending machine and a milk can were stolen along with a small amount of cash and candy boxes. Breaks on Dec 26 and Jan 12 are noted. Bridges to nearby stores were also attacked during the period.

Fire sweeps Easterbrooks Block as snowstorms hinder rescue

Firemen battled a blaze in the electric switchboard room of the Easterbrooks Block at Hope and State in heavy snowfall. Occupants suffer stock and fixture losses as water and smoke damage spread through stores and offices on the second floor. Louis Tortorice alerted crews. Alfred Burke and Lombard Pozzi helped contain the blaze before fire department arrival.

First Real Snow Storm of Season Hits City

Heavy fall covered ground to about a foot Friday night and Saturday morning marking the season first real snow storm. Snow plows cleared main highways while highway crews removed piles from Hope street. A cold snap followed with efforts to keep roadways passable ahead of a thaw.

Mt Carmel Players rehearse Stop Thief for church benefit

The Mt. Carmel Players rehearse the three act play Stop Thief to be staged at Guiteras School auditorium on April 23 and 24 to benefit the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Rehearsals, directed by Joseph F Parnone, occur at his home on Wednesdays and Sundays with a cast list headed by Joan Carr and Miss Marguerite Ciccerchia and featuring a large lineup of local actors and parishioners.
