Rips 3 Warren Homes in Shell Alley Blast

A Warren explosion at 6 pm destroyed the Heywood home at 463 Water Street and injured Kenneth Heywood who is hospitalized. Two nearby houses also suffered blasts as fire and police fought the overnight incidents. Nar Ragansett Electric crews investigated while officials noted the area’s shell-filled ground and gas pressure as possible causes.

Bristol Tax Funds Sought For Local Roads Under Bill

Bristol would receive half of state auto registration license fees and gas taxes under a bill by Senator Kingsley. The funds would be spent by the highway department for Bristol streets, with a separate resolution to study widening Metacom Avenue and Ferry Road to four lanes. Holy Name Society Meeting Plans Fund Drive

Fifty members of the Holy Name Society of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church met for a Friday session. They voted to donate 150 to the church and outlined a march ride with committee chair Frank Misérandino, assisted by Robert Hayes and Anthony Russo.
