Max Makowsky of this town purchases the Hasbrouck block on the west side of Hope street just north of the Rogers Free Library. The three story brick building, built in 18, houses four stores on the ground floor, a barber shop, offices on the second floor, and motion picture use on the third floor front and rear. The Fraternal Order of Eagles occupies the front part of the third floor, with bowling, pool, and lunch rooms in the basement. The former owner was Dr Cornelius J Hasbrouck. The property fronts 65 feet with a rear lot 75 feet deep. Previous plans considered enlarging the theatre using the vacant lot. Original cost was $17,500 for the building and $5,000 for the land. last year the land was taxed at $10,000 and the building at $21,500.
