Households will learn to think in terms of point prices for canned foods under a new rationing plan. Registration for Book No 2 will occur within weeks, with school teachers handling the process. Canned items will be grouped and assigned point values based on scarcity, guiding menus and stamp usage until the next period begins.
Kearney Post No 6 American Legion will hold its regular monthly meeting at the Post Home on Franklin Street tomorrow evening at 8 o clock. Committee reports will cover Executive, Housing, Bingo, Callan Memorial and the Department Executive Committee representative. The post plans a membership drive to meet a 1943 quota of 118 members by April 1 to rank high in the state-wide contest.
Hydraulion Hose Company will host its annual turkey supper at the Fire Station Saturday at 7:30 PM. This year no professional entertainers or outside guests. event limited to fire company members. James F Meiggs chairs the supper with committee members Chester Hempel Louis H Gallo Ralph Church Robert J Anderson Harold Manchester and George R Fish.
The Tadies Benevolent Society of St Michael's Church schedules its annual meeting Monday afternoon at 2:30 in the Holmes House. Hostesses include Mrs John Ro Magee and Mrs Witham Gladding among others. an All Day Sewing session is set for Thursday January 14 at 10 o'clock with attendees bringing lunch boxes.
Capt. Paul Herzig, US Army on leave, praised Rotary Club for writing weekly to service members and to sons of members. He showed a film depicting ranch life in Arizona where he has served for six months.
The Rationing Board and War Price Administration office will be closed to the public tomorrow and Saturday. Fuel oil stamp No 3 validity runs from December 28 to February 20 and No 4 from February 7 to March 26. All coupons have a two week overlap after expiration, said Capt Paul A. Herzig, chairman.
Margaret McGann daughter of Mr and Mrs George McGann 715 Hope Street is the first Bristol girl sworn into the U S Navy Women’s Auxiliary Volunteer Emergency Service. She filed in October and learned of her acceptance in mid November after a long wait. Margaret a Colt Memorial High School graduate 1940 later trained at Comptometer School Providence and now works in the payroll department of U S Rubber Co. She plans training venues and has announced her engagement to Elmer McNamara of 402 High Street.
Edward M Gladue Chief Warrant Officer has been promoted at a Northern Maine base of the MIR Transport Command. A Bristol native and veteran of 12 years in the Armed Forces he served seven and a half years with the CAS Army Anti Aircraft and posted at Pearl Harbor Canal Zone Fort Adams and Fort Williams. He attended Quartermaster School in Philadelphia and earned the Good Conduct Medal. He is the son of Medics Gladue of Providence and the late Lena O'Brien Gladue.
New Year celebrations and church services fill Bristol with plans for 1943 peace prospects. A youth jamboree at the YMCA features Archie Allen D V A Capone and a seven member orchestra led by Joseph Victoria with cartoons by Pitt Parker The night ends with breakfast at 2 am. Church alliances unite across St Michael s First Congregational and First Baptist for a New Year service and week of prayer.
Rev A R Parshley announces a change in the church school hour at St Michael's begining Sunday. The session will start at 10 15 a m with direct class attendance then 4th to 12th graders will attend the 11 o'clock service in church while 1 to 3 year primary stay in Parish House through the service. The Junior Choir joins the Senior Choir for the 11 o'clock service.
The funeral service for Zebedee Paull was held yesterday afternoon at 900 Hope Street. Rev A R Parshley officiated and burial followed at North Cemetery. Bearers were Prescott B Paull, Benjamin Paull, Benjamin Paull Jr, and Dr Howard W Church. He is survived by two sons Harold Church Paull of this town and Russell Paull of Edgewood and three daughters Jeanette Reba and Gladys Paull.
Miss Mary Evelyn Wetzel daughter of Mr and Mrs William B Wetzel of Providence married Lieut William S Nerone MC USA son of Mr and Mrs Augustine C Nerone of Prospect street Providence at Blessed Sacrament Church Providence The ceremony was conducted by Rev Michael F O'Brien with Rev James Lamb in the sanctuary The bride wore ivory taffeta with Venetian lace and a seed pearl veil The matron of honor wore pale pink and bouquets featured larkspur and carnations The bride’s parents attended The groom a Georgetown Medical School graduate served as surgeon in the US Army and is assigned to the 132nd Engineers Regiment The couple’s reception details are not listed.

Mulligan son of Mr and Mrs Hugh J Mulligan of 161 Terrace Avenue Cranston The wedding is set for Saturday January 23 in St Marys Miss Tobin teaches at Valley School Mulligan serves in the U S Coast Guard stationed in Providence.
