Kearney Post to Meet Tomorrow Night

Kearney Post No 6 American Legion will hold its regular monthly meeting at the Post Home on Franklin Street tomorrow evening at 8 o clock. Committee reports will cover Executive, Housing, Bingo, Callan Memorial and the Department Executive Committee representative. The post plans a membership drive to meet a 1943 quota of 118 members by April 1 to rank high in the state-wide contest.

The Rationing Board and War Price Administration office will be closed to the public tomorrow and Saturday. Fuel oil stamp No 3 validity runs from December 28 to February 20 and No 4 from February 7 to March 26. All coupons have a two week overlap after expiration, said Capt Paul A. Herzig, chairman.

Bristol Girl Becomes First WAVE In Town

Margaret McGann daughter of Mr and Mrs George McGann 715 Hope Street is the first Bristol girl sworn into the U S Navy Women’s Auxiliary Volunteer Emergency Service. She filed in October and learned of her acceptance in mid November after a long wait. Margaret a Colt Memorial High School graduate 1940 later trained at Comptometer School Providence and now works in the payroll department of U S Rubber Co. She plans training venues and has announced her engagement to Elmer McNamara of 402 High Street.

Edward M Gladue Promoted to Chief Warrant Officer

Edward M Gladue Chief Warrant Officer has been promoted at a Northern Maine base of the MIR Transport Command. A Bristol native and veteran of 12 years in the Armed Forces he served seven and a half years with the CAS Army Anti Aircraft and posted at Pearl Harbor Canal Zone Fort Adams and Fort Williams. He attended Quartermaster School in Philadelphia and earned the Good Conduct Medal. He is the son of Medics Gladue of Providence and the late Lena O'Brien Gladue.

Church School Session Shifts Start Time at St Michael's

Rev A R Parshley announces a change in the church school hour at St Michael's begining Sunday. The session will start at 10 15 a m with direct class attendance then 4th to 12th graders will attend the 11 o'clock service in church while 1 to 3 year primary stay in Parish House through the service.
