Town Solicitor Joseph A. Hammill argued in New Haven that the N Y N H H Railroad seeks to disaffirm a 99 year lease for the Providence Bristol line rather than abandon it. He noted a public hearing before the Interstate Commerce Commission would be required before any abandonment action, and said Bristol residents have no current stake until then. He added the federal judge postponed the hearing to January 13 and he planned to skip the session.

Fields Faces Court For Shellfishing In Polluted Waters
Albert Fields 63 of Bristol pleaded guilty before Judge William T O'Donnell at a Fifth District special session to shellfishing in polluted waters. He was fined 100 and sentenced to 30 days in Providence County Jail. Warden Arthur Burke of Warren arrested him after seeing shellfish removal at Walker's Cove. this was his second Fifth District appearance for the charge, previously fined 20 and costs.

Preaching Mission Opens at Baptist Church Sunday
Beginning Sunday a special preaching mission starts at the Baptist Church with Rev H C Zabriskie as preacher. He recently came from Dallas Texas and is from Providence Bible Institute and pastor of Trinity Baptist in Dallas. Evening services at 7 30 will begin with an illustrated song service led by Rev C J Yeemans and pianist Miss Mary R Snook. The public is invited to attend all services.
