William Parker Paine 84 of Burton street died Christmas night after a long illness at the Rhode Island Veterans Home. A Spanish American War veteran, he worked 30 years at Herreshoff Manufacturing and later ran his own sail-making business. Survived by son Milton. Funeral Friday at 2 pm from Connery Funeral Home with Canon Daniel K. Davis officiating. Burial in North Burial Ground.

Ernest Ansermet will conduct the Providence Veterans Memorial Auditorium concert in Munchs absence with Aldo Ciccolini as soloist. Ciccolini will perform Beethoven piano concerto No 4 in G major. Achille Pirri and Charles Perroni have leased Bay View Cafe at 540 Thames from Joseph Medeiros. ownership is by Joseph Campo. They took over on December 17 and renovated the premises after a fire. the cafe now operates under a class B tavern license.
