YMCA Youths Visit Newport YMCA For Sport Day

About 41 boys from the local YMCA spent a day at the Newport YMCA enjoying swimming and indoor sports supervised by Anthony E Agatiello. They toured the city with Agatiello and will make a similar trip during the public school winter recess to the Providence YMCA.

Water Company Closes Warren Office and Changes Payment Points

The Bristol County Water Company will close its Warren collection office on the Saugy Building's second floor. After Jan 2 bills for Warren and Barrington may be paid at Standard Pharmacy in Warren or at BC Drug Co in Barrington Center. Calls about service should then go to the Bristol office.

Firemen in Bristol Seek New England Muster Next July

Bristol firemen vote to host the New England Firemen's Muster on the Fourth of July. The Volunteer Firemen's Veterans Association formed and directed delegates to request the muster from the New England Veterans Association. They plan membership drives and appointed officers and fundraising chairs, with Chief Norman J. Servant and Angelo Andrade to apply.

Braves Pitcher Chet Nichols in Bristol for charity

Chet Nichols of the Boston Braves spent three hours in Bristol during the off season as a goodwill agent for the Infantile Paralysis Foundation. In a WALE interview with Charlie McHugh Nichols said Lou Pieri of the Rhode Island Auditorium asked him to promote Ice Capades ticket sales to benefit the foundation. Proceeds from the first show will go to the charity. The Sport Beat broadcast airs on WALE at 7 20 Saturday evening.

Morens Arrive Home From Japan Christmas Night

M/Sgt and Mrs Anthony A Moren arrive at 1030 Hope Street after five and four years in Japan. He served as first sergeant of the 8011 Army Unit in Kyoto and will report to Camp Crowder Missouri on 30 days leave. Their four children include Richard, who runs Echo Beverage, Jackie in U S Marine Corps, and Jean and Betsy students. Betsy left Bristol for Japan in August, Jean returned from Japan in 1949. Jackie now in Korea.

Two Juveniles to Face Juvenile Court Action

Two boys aged 12 and 14 will be presented to the juvenile court when it convenes early next month. They are accused of three break-ins over the past two months, including at the home of Abilio Ferreira on Erbrooks Avenue HyLite Lunch and the YMCA. Capt. William S. Baker Jr and Patrolmen Frederick W Serbst and Joseph Teixeira led the investigation, with one boy already on probation.

Bristol Churches Hold Midnight and Christmas Day Services

Bristol celebrated Christmas with worship and caroling as thousands attended midnight and Christmas Day services at three Catholic churches and two Episcopal churches. Other churches conducted car singing tours while the First Congregational Church youth and Pilgrim Fellowship held a house to house caroling serenade on Christmas Eve.
