History of Christmas Seals origin and spread
The Christmas seal began in Denmark with Einar Holboell in 1904 to fund children’s hospitals. By 1927 it reached 45 countries, and America adopted the idea in 1907 with Emily Bissell popularizing the first U S Christmas seal a wreath of holly and the words Merry Christmas backed by a Philadelphia newspaper columnist.
