My Wonderful Folks and My Parents Christmas Prayer

A heartfelt Christmas poem praising the speaker's mom and dad. The speaker cherishes Mom for care and comfort when sick or blue, recalls Pop’s kindness and humble ambition, and prays for their safety and happiness. The verses celebrate family love and gratitude.

Poinsettia Pioneer Joel Poinsett and the Christmas Plant

Joel Roberts Poinsett, U S ambassador to Mexico and friend of four presidents, introduced the Mexican plant known as the Painted Leaf or Mexican Fire Plant to the United States. The plant, later named poinsettia in his honor, uses red bracts that are not true flowers. Variations include pink and white, with the red bracts favored for Christmas color. The plant requires warm, stable temperatures between 70 and 80 degrees by day and at least 65 at night, with water only once daily and ample light. Regular occasional fertilization with a quality tablet is advised.
