Community Carol Sing Draws Large Bristol Crowd
A Sunday evening charity carol event at Colt Memorial High School drew about 2500 people of all ages. The Portuguese Independent and public schools bands, led by Mrs. M Theresa Donovan, provided music. Tables and tableaux, lighting, and a Madonna figure enhanced the scene, with volunteers and town crews aiding setup. The Rotary quartet performed, and a final tableau of the Madonna was unveiled as the band played Silent Night.

The Bristol Jewish Community Center hosted a Hanukkah party for children at the Synagogue with gifts and refreshments. Jeffrey Jacobson sang for the group as Philip Shusman led the prayer and Maynard Shulman and Betty Meyerson spoke on the eight day candle celebration. In the evening a buffet supper was served to the older attendees. Committee members included Mr and Mrs Meyerson Ben Hazen Ray Makowsky and Mrs Ruth M Stone. The next regular meeting moves from Tuesday to Thursday.
