A cigarette left burning by John Ennis caused a chest high smoke fire at 218 Thames Street. Fire crews from four companies responded after Ennis fled to the Dreadnaught station and later admitted he slept with a lighted cigarette. The blaze damaged little and was put out by hose lines after a delayed alarm.
