Town Council meeting Tuesday did not rescind Chief Hugh F. Kelley’s resignation accepted Nov 23 for Dec 31, with motions to defer until next meeting and discussions on pension legislation for police chiefs. Discussion on road repairs and a payment bill for the engineer followed as adjournment neared.
At Grand Army Hall Tuesday night the Knights of Pythias Burnside Lodge nominated officers for the coming year. The election will be held next Tuesday night. An Esquire rank was conferred on new candidates who will receive the third degree at the next meeting. The lodge voted to send Christmas dinners to sick and needy members.
Special musical programs and nativity services planned across town. St Michael's hosts 10 30 a m Christmas Day communion with a full musical program and a vested choir. The church quartet includes Mrs Hoarso prang Mrs Rounds Charles Morgan and others with Walter Angell at the organ.
Miss Helen W Church presents an organ recital titled A Joyous Morning Song at the DC Church. George R Fish plays chimes between organ numbers. The service features a Parisian style program including Adeste Fideles and Hark the Herald Angels Sing. Vincent Campagna violin Harriet Kinder cello Vernon A Gray tenor with Rev Frederick I Marvon presiding.
The program lists high masses at midnight and 10 30 am with Processional The New Born King Adeste Fideles and selections for the organ and orchestra. Miss Nora Dwyer Theresa Sullivan lead the senior choir with a full ensemble including violinists Sisson Dwier Serbst and bass Fred Straight. The school choir performs at 9 am with Holy Night and Lo the King. Benediction at 4 pm features Tantum Ergo and Adeste Fideles with Miss Sullivan and the senior choir.
Masses will be celebrated at midnight eight thirty and ten thirty o clock. Florence Reposa and Adrian Costa will sing a duet Pastorale at 11 55 o clock. St Anthonys mass will be sung at midnight and at the ten thirty mass Cora Reposa will sing Adeste Fideles at offertory and at close Anthonys Nunes will sing O Love. Infant soloists include Rose Paivo Isabel Sylvia Anna Vera and Mary Peters among a larger chorus with John Sylvester Navier Christy Mello and others. John Barbosa will accompany on violin as junior choir performs at eight thirty mass.
