Christmas musical programs have been arranged for Sunday at St Michael s Church Holy Communion services at 8 am and 10 30 am Sunday School at noon and evening prayer at 7 30 pm The annual Christmas Eve service will be held at 7 pm instead of 7 30 pm tomorrow evening.
On Christmas morning, law masses will be celebrated at 8 and 10 30 oclock. Miss Helen Church serves as organist and director for the service featuring Haydn pieces and traditional carols such as O Come All Ye Faithful and Hark the Herald Angels.
Friday night service at 7 30 and Sunday morning worship at 10 30 mark a Christmas program including sermon by the pastor. Voluntary With the Shepherds and anthem Star of the Orient by Shelley with bass solo Nazareth Gou nod Enoch Marsden. Gesire Bambino Pietro Yon will be performed with Junior Choir Bethlehem Town Fruman respons Nearer Still Near. Offertory and Three Amen postludes. Church School at 12 o'clock and Sunday afternoon Christmas song service At the Manger with appropriate exercises.
Midnight and 10 30 masses with processions and choirs. Soprano Nora E Dwyer leads the choir including Grace McKay and several Dwyer and Rinaldi family members. Children’s mass features Christmas carols and festive pieces. Benediction program includes Gregorian and Novello works with organist Henry F Serbst Jr.
Christmas Masses set for Saturday December 24 at midnight eight thirty and ten am Sunday with choirs and instrumentalists. Notable selections include Adeste Fideles Pastorale and It Came Upon the Midnight Clear with soloists Miss Margaret M Conley Miss Mary Santo and James C Ruggiero.
Hiram A. Rounds, who runs a shop at 066 Hope Street, was robbed by three young men after 10 pm on a Wednesday night. They bound and gagged him, stole $19.82 from the cash register and $12 from his pockets, plus 52 New Haven road tickets and cigars. The trio fled in a nearby car. Rounds, injured and shocked, was later aided by Harry R Gray and two patrolmen. The suspects, aged 20 to 22, were unmasked.
The Christmas Basket fund sponsored by Kearney Post of the American Legion, aided by Manager Vail of the Pastime Theatre, has netted over its target for the third year. On Saturday at least forty five dinners will be provided to needy Bristol families, with thanks extended to all donors including many individuals and local businesses.
The list details events including a Dance at 11 Church Street Armory hosted by Battery C 243d C A on December 26, a Jan 11 concert at Guiteras Memorial School by the Bristol County Festival Chorus, a Jan 19–20 musical comedy In Old Vienna at Colt Memorial High School for Senior Class and Athletic Association, and a Jan 4 testimonial dinner for Deputy Commissioner George R Fish and veteran Boy Scouts at Trinity Parish House.
