Town council split over school chief appointment

Committeemen Joseph Vento J Roderick Eaton and Frank Canario, dissenters against Monday’s vote to appoint Ennis Bisbane as superintendent, formally ask State education commissioner Thomas Schmidt to void the appointment. They allege illegal vacancy advertising Open Meeting Law bylaws violations and improper process, and say a full committee vote never rescinded actions to advertise and form a screening panel. They submitted documents via DeCosta Abilheira for a commissioner hearing to review the appeal.

Spoils of victory in school committee power grab

Four school committee members appointed Ennis Bisbano superintendent and then named themselves to posts in a secretive, unopposed shift. Barbara Edler, Louis Annarummo, Edward Oliver, and Frank Campagna took chair, vice chair, clerk, and executive board seats as three dissenters abstained. The four, all Democrats, now control the committee with two Republicans, Canario and Eaton, in the minority.

Bristol School Chief Named After Plotting Protests

Ennis J.risbane was named Bristol schools superintendent to replace the late Edward P Travers after a party night maneuvering sequence. The four to three vote, with Edler Annarummo and Campagna in favor, faced dissent over legality and the lack of advertised vacancies. a waiver from the Rhode Island education commissioner allowed internal promotion.
