Local Legion Units Host Joint Christmas Party in Grand Army Hall

Kearney Post No 6 American Legion and its Ladies Auxiliary held a joint Christmas party in Grand Army Hall. Members donated staple foods for Christmas baskets for nearly 300 destitute families and collected toys for poor children. Post Commander Bertram W. Wall led the basket drive, while Past Commander George R. Fish urged more toy contributions and outlined Boy Scout work. Frank D Keefe spoke on Legion aid to disabled World War veterans. Santa Claus, carols, and a mixed quartet closed the event.

Bristol Day planning moves forward with merchants

George H. Baldwin president of the Bristol Chamber of Commerce and Roswell S. Bosworth secretary were elected a committee to confer with local merchants about holding a Bristol Day. The board discussed merchant cooperation and the chamber’s effort to ensure a successful event. Also reported were Baldwin on railroad transportation and Getchell on New Industries Committee progress. Present: Baldwin Magee Bernard Getchell Smith Bosworth.

St Rita's Club Christmas Party Supports Charity

St Rita's Girls' Club at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church opened its doors for a Christmas party with a small admission fee aiding charity. The two act play A Christmas Bouquet directed by Miss Geraldine Marino featured cast members Dor othy Ruggerro Margaret Proto Frances Arico Michael Ascol Vic Ferri Tugene Mansi and Chrantenas carols filled interludes. Music by Vernie Munro and his orchestra complemented holiday decor and a tree.

Community Revue To Aid Red Cross In Bristol

A 20 act charity show at Pastime Theatre in Bristol benefits the local Red Cross. Local and regional performers join Eddie LeClerc and Joseph Pannone for comic sketches and musical numbers. Organizers led by Alfen M Newman expect a capacity crowd with support from Rotary and Kiwanis clubs.

Altar Society Christmas Party Features Plays and Dances

The Altar Society of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church staged a Christmas party with an original one act play A Bachelor's Confession and a tableau An Ardent Lover's Dream directed by Mrs Louise M Capone. Cast included Jean Darrow Anna Carmone Elsie Darrow Rose Viscone Jack Darrow Vechient Carmone Marian Lee Jack's Sweetheart and others with arias and dances by Philomena Carmone Louise Quartaro and Minnie Gogha. The hall glow of Yuletide greens hosted gifts refreshments and a busy entertainment committee led by Miss Minnie Gogha.

Telephone Girls to Hold Annual Christmas Party

The local exchange operators plan their Christmas tree party this evening at 8 in the exchange reception room. Provisions ensure service remains smooth while the "Hello Girls" provide food and clothing to town families in need. Miss Dorothy M. Collins Aikman Girls Club Christmas Party Highlights

More than 75 members and friends attended the Collins and Aikman Girls Club Christmas party at the Bristol Train of Artillery Armory on Saturday evening. The hall featured Christmas greens and buntings with a lighted tree in the right corner, Paramount Orchestra provided music, and refreshments were served by the arrangements committee led by Mrs Annie Arone with Mrs Anna Natel and Misses Mary Salzano Ida Ferreira and Emily Delmoniga.

Legion Commander Announces National Holiday Greeting

Lt. Col. Fred M. Straight commander of Kearney Post No. 6 says national headquarters in Indianapolis sent word. Henry L. Stevens of Warsaw North Carolina, commander of the American Legion, will offer Christmas greetings from Station WBET Charlotte on December 23 at 6 p m EST.
