Superior Court Finds for Dunbar in Electric Lighting Suit

Richard H. Dunbar was awarded 1500 by a Bristol County jury in a suit against Narraganset Electric Lighting Company heard at the Bristol County Court House. The trial, before Whipple Edwards for the defense and Cook Brownell for Dunbar, lasted into the afternoon after the morning recess. Damages claimed totaled about 2100 for gas leaks harming Dunbar’s greenhouse plants. The session also heard Mary Ryan vs John W Eddy, an assault and battery case with a verdict of not guilty for the defendant after a trial that followed a prior District Court judgment for the plaintiff. Court adjourned with no further cases.

Comedy by Local Cast for Arabian Nights in Bristol

Funeral of Mrs Matilda Martin Held at St Marys Church

The funeral was held yesterday from the residence of her daughter Mrs Joseph Bernard at Hope and Oliver Streets. Services at St Marys Church began at 9 o'clock with a high requiem mass conducted by Rev Thomas J Fitzpatrick. Choir under organist Miss Mary B Pierce. Bearers were four grandsons George S Bernard Lewis Bernard Charles Bernard and Joseph Bernard. Interment followed at St Marys Cemetery on Bristol Neck.

Obituary: Comrade William T. Dodge Dies at Soldier's Home

Comrade William T. Dodge of the Soldier's Home died in the hospital there at 5:45 AM. He was 81, born in Block Island and served ten months as a private in Company O, Eleventh Rhode Island Infantry during the Civil War. The body was taken to Providence for burial. a son, Irving Z. Dodge, resides there.

Dodge Soldier's Home Death Notice

William T. Dodge died at the Soldier's Home in this town on December 19 at age 81. An odd fragment mentions Kennedy's Laxative Dough Syrup and briefly references a forged item and medicine without clear context, sold by W. H. Buffington.

The ferryboat Wave built by Herreshoff for government service between Newport Torpedo Station and Prudence Island harbor trials show speeds over 8 knots on the first run 9.11 knots on the third with pumps and equipment proving effective for fire fighting. The vessel will be moved to Newport in a day.
