Bristol Honor Roll to be unveiled Sunday afternoon

The Bristol Honor Roll honoring 765 individuals will be unveiled Sunday at 2 PM before the Burnside Memorial Building. Judge Mortimer A. Sullivan of Newport will deliver the principal address, with Town Council President J. Floyd Huestis introducing Bertram W. Wall master of ceremonies.

Woman Struck By Auto On Hope Street

Miss Mary Gilheney of 31 Congregational Street suffered a compound fracture and ankle dislocation after being struck by a car driven by Sebastian Bernard Jr a Bristol grocer on Hope Street south of Bradford yesterday at 12 45. Bernard said she stepped from behind a parked car and he stopped three feet away but his car skidded hitting her as she crossed.

Rubber Employees Donate piano to the Y

Hubert F Hill appealed for a piano for the Y gym in Friday's Phoenix. The U S Rubber Company Employees Association answered quickly delivering a piano used in their recreation room. Hill hopes it will be tuned for dances this week as the regular weekly dance occurred last night and more dances are planned for tonight and tomorrow to benefit the uniform fund and the Tri-Bi-Y events.

Bristol Defense Council Keeps Present Alarm System

The Bristol Council of Defense voted to send a letter to Middletown chairman C. P. Jeffreys stating no changes are needed to current audible alarm signals. Training of personnel was discussed with courses set for December 28 and 29 and January 4 and 5, with certification required for equipment. A request was made for a Civilian War Services Administrator to oversee welfare, health, and blackout plans, and a State Council representative was invited to meet December 31 to discuss the new role.

State Guard appeals for recruits in Rhode Island unit

Captain Manuel Morris Jr says Company G Rhode Island State Guard faces dwindling ranks as members leave for armed forces or defense jobs. Lt Luke White and Lt George Carroll urge ages 18 to 52 to enlist and gain basic training with easier exams. The battalion commander praises the company for its performance in maneuvers. Germans May Crack Quickly Says Rev Graetz

Rev Herbert I. Graetz warned during a Rotary Club talk at Holmes House that the Totolarían States lack lasting strength and may crumble if faith in leaders falters. He cautioned against imposing democracy abroad and urged governments suited to each people. The Rotary Club plans a Bristol men’s Christmas party at YMCA or St Michael’s Parish House. Also noted are two church events: St Cecilia Junior Choir’s Christmas party at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Sunday.

Cup Defenders Will Have Children's Christmas Party
