Mrs William M Hogan of Providence will describe conditions in Germany at a mass meeting in Colt Memorial High School Bristol Rhode Island Sunday at 3 00 P M The event is hosted by the Bristol branch Rhode Island Committee for Relief of Oppressed Minorities Speakers include Rabbi Israel M Goldman and Rev Arthur E Wilson A flag ceremony and a Colt High School Orchestra program are planned Proceeds aid refugees and relief efforts with local factory and fraternal support noted from Bristol committees and volunteers.

Bluebell Blooms Again Highlighted At Guiteras Junior High Play

Education emphasis shaped the ane act comedy presented by Class 9C pupils at Guiteras Memorial junior high. Cast included Alice Almeida Félicia Gogla Robert Bullock Christine Irma Leonora Cabral Nicholas Ascoli Manuel Mello Beatrice Espinosa Elizabeth Jones Carmella Mancier Irene Sargente Mary Medeiros and Caroline Napp. Mary McMillan delivered a recitation as group singing and school orchestra selections followed under Mrs Theresa Donovan. Miss Jessie Molasky directed the production with Mary Garcia announcing and stage managers Manuel Alves Anthony Balzano Ralph Monafo. Curtains handled by Samuel Del Piano Martone Gilday oversaw makeup.

Cup Defenders to Host Christmas Social

The Cup Defenders Association will hold a Christmas social tomorrow evening at their Wood Street quarters. The social committee and board of directors will oversee the event. Plans for the children’s Christmas party on Saturday afternoon December 24th will be finalized next week by the committee responsible at the club’s quarters.

Richards Named Discussion Club Leader at St Mary’s Church

Paul Richards was named president of the Boys' Discussion Club of St Mary’s Church. Other officers include vice president Harold Beauregard secretary Victor Trask treasurer Charles Coggeshall and Rev Michael IL Ryan pastor. Spiritual committee members are James Connery and Edward Morin. Social culture committee includes Andrew Meiggs and George Morris. Walter Drainville and Robert Bottomley lead the physical committee. The club meets next Wednesday at 6 30 in the church vestry.

The Guiteras Library Club met to organize a Christmas party at the school library next Wednesday. Christmas manger scene rises on Colt Memorial lawn

Highway surveyor James Holmes leads a crew to erect a 30 by seven foot manger display on the Colt Memorial high school lawn in Bristol. The scene will be illuminated at night with two flood lights and visible from Bradford and Hope streets, weather permitting completion tonight.

Taft School Club presents At Grand ma's House play

Audience of parents and friends witnessed Taft School pupils perform At Grand ma's House with Eleanor Perry as Grandma and John DeCosta as Santa Claus. The event marked the Taft School Club's 20th year with a gavel gift from Mrs Pinch and a post show food sale. The play repeats next morning for other Bristol schools with a small admission fee.

Bristol Man Undergoes Diaphragmatic Hernia Surgery

Malafronte, 28, of 35 Catherine Street Bristol, was operated on for an upside down stomach at Truesdale Hospital Fall River by Dr Philomon Truesdale. He spent a night in the hospital and is reported not yet comfortable. X rays revealed the condition after he sought treatment for stomach trouble. He had been ill several months and was observed at Fall River hospital since Sunday.

Manchester Celebrates 25 Years in Postal Service

William H. R. Manchester marked a quarter century with the local postal service by finding a large bouquet on his desk after lunch at the post office on a Wednesday. He began his career during Edward J Prest’s postmastership as a substitute carrier and has since logged many miles on his route. Manchester is married with one child and lives on Sunnyside Avenue.

New Staff Hires for Andrews Memorial High School

Three teachers hired this week for the opening of Andrews Memorial High School come highly recommended by Superintendent Elmer S Mapes Warren. Huston, a 25 year old Springfield College graduate, joins as physical instructor and athletics coach after stints with Mount Hermon School and the Philadelphia Athletics. Stannard B. Sylvia will be an Industrial Arts instructor, a Fitchburg State Teachers College graduate and former machinist from Newtonville. Anthony Russo, preparing to teach science in the junior high, is Rhode Island State College Science Course 1938 graduate and performed well on recent teacher examinations.

Andrews School at Bristol to Open Modern Facilities
