Inmovictes Committee to Hear State Advisor in Bristol

The Bristol Rhode Island Committee for Relief of Oppressed Minorities in Germany will hear State Advisor George Clark tonight at 8 in Rockwell Hall YMCA building. New Scout Troop Formed in Bristol Area

A new Scout Troop 5 in Bristol will receive its charter Thursday at 7 30 PM in St Michael's Parish Hall. Daniel Earl of Newport presents the charter to Scoutmaster Irving M Porter with O Reid LeClair speaking. Bristol Chapter of the D A R named delegates and alternates for the spring conference of the Delaware Valley line in Providence at the Hotel Baltimore on March 16. Mrs Edna Harris was elected president of the Collins and Aikman Girls' Club at the annual meeting. Other officers include Aida Perry as vice president Irene Lewis as secretary Jessie Sanford as treasurer. The group voted to donate 10 to the needs of Collins and Aikman Family members at Wallum Lake and planned a Dec 22 Christmas party in the Masonic Hall with a planning committee led by Harris.

Taft School presents the Christmas play At Grandma's House directed by Miss Annie M Tobin. Safe recovered from Bristol Yacht Club wreck after flood

The Bristol Yacht Club building was destroyed by a hurricane and its possessions lost. A 500 pound iron safe was salvaged from the mud at the Armory wharf, dragged ashore by workers, opened by Col. Sam Hall, and moved to John Wall's Constitution street office. The safe’s odor and slime cascaded out as the door yielded.

Poultry Show Crowded With Birds and Poor Signage

We attended with a man and his son to the Armory show crowded with hens roosters chickens turkeys pigeons and more. The exhibits were poorly marked with few signs identifying breeds or exhibitors making it hard even for experienced raisers to name many classes on display.

Two Chickens Win for Boy at Prize Draw

At a community event the announcer called door prize numbers as a crowd gathered. A boy collected four ticket stubs, giving six total, and after several numbers were drawn he won two chickens, delivering them home to his mother’s bed.
