Ezra Dixon Presented 50 Year Jewel by United Brothers Lodge

Ezra Dixon received a 50 year Jewel at United Brothers Lodge No. 13 meeting in Odd Fellows Hall Tuesday evening. Noble Grand William H Remieres welcomed attendees. Past Grand John H Bailey presented the jewel and praised Dixon for his long service. Dixon thanked the lodge for the honor and his continued commitment.

Rhode Island lodge officer recalls Dixon and club entertainment

The record details Mr Dixon joining United Brothers' Lodge in 1876 and rising to Noble Grand in 1880, with later Grand Lodge admittance in 1881. An entertainment program followed with songs by the Burnside Glee Club, readings by Miss Elizabeth Rounds, magic by C Foster Fenner, and refreshments organized by a committee of local members.

Bowling League Formed at National India Rubber Co

Edward A Currier Jr announces an eight team bowling league at the National India Rubber Company factory. Teams will bowl on Wednesday and Thursday evenings at the local YMCA alleys with Currier as judge. Captains include Alexander Basilevitch, William McCarthy, Charles Davis, Charles Dunbar, Herbert Remick, Leonard Sanford, Francis Connell, and Lewis Dickinson for the various departments.

Naturalization Court Next Monday at Bristol Court House

On Monday next December 19 a session of the Superior Court at Bristol Court House will offer aliens a chance to apply for citizenship papers. Applicants with first papers two years and five years in the U S and Rhode Island respectively may file final papers, accompanied by two citizen witnesses. Those arriving after June 29 1906 need a landing certificate first. Women may naturalize with rules differing by marital status. US born women who married aliens before Sept 22 1922 can resume citizenship without a first paper. Due to many petitions next Monday, applicants should not appear before noon.

Bridge construction plans move forward in Bristol harbor

Brig Gen L H Callan and officials from McClintic Marshall Foundation Company inspected bridge property and the New Haven freight yard at Franklin street to review shipping facilities. Steel to be shipped from Potts Town, Pennsylvania to Bristol in early spring. State Harbor Commission granted authority to build the bridge and the Foundation Company received a permit to erect a bay wharf.

Life Savers Hold Banquet In Bristol Branch Meeting

The Bristol Branch of the United States Volunteer Life Saving Corps held its annual officer election and banquet at headquarters near Church Street. Samuel J Smith Jr acted as toastmaster. Dr M W Talcott spoke, and Philp Gladue was re-elected captain with Wilfred Gladue as first lieutenant and William Burke as second lieutenant. Boatswain's Mate Wilfred Lemaire also noted. Banquet committee included Arthur Tattrie Capt Gladue Francis Burke and John Tattrie.

Old Rifle Given to Town by Local Family

A rifle made in 1859 by the Burnside Rifle Company has been donated to the town. The weapon, a powder and ball gun with elevated sights, rests in Memorial Hall among local antiques and curios. The stock is burled walnut and the gift comes from the family of the late John Po Reynolds.
