Mount Hope toll bridge project moves toward construction
Bridge Four Lighters and scows arrived Saturday night with building equipment for the Mount Hope toll bridge linking the town and Forts mouth. The Foundation Company of Newark will construct substructure and piers with 300 to 400 workers. cofferdams begin immediately to lay foundations 60 feet underwater. The McClintic Marshall Company of Pittsburg holds the suspension span contract. steel work starts around July or August.

County Farmers Elect V J de Rocha Bristol Leader Again
V J de Rocha was re elected president of the Bristol County Farmers Association at a large Defiance Hall meeting. officers chosen include Vice President Charles Manchester Secretary and Treasurer Howard H Hawes with an executive committee featuring George H Baldwin William Manchester and Hawes. Prof C P Hart of Rhode Island State College urged poultry sanitation while County Agent W H Wood spoke on European corn borer dangers and the call for fall plowing. Horace W Tinkham of the Federal Land Bank discussed northern New England flood effects. A resolution urged the agriculture commissioner to bar indemnity for oats slaughtered for tuberculosis and a committee led by de Rocha and Hawes will present to the commissioner. Next meeting set for December 30 with a chowder to close.
